Abstract:

Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) has received growing attention in engineering research and applications.

In the lecture several fields of current research and development work are briefly addressed. A short introduction will be given on the fundamental phenomena of MHD-duct flow.

The lecture will then focus on recent investigations into MHD-flows in complex piping geometrics, which are related to the design of a self-cooled liquid metal blanket for future fusion reactors.
