Introduction

The Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference has grown steadily from its beginning at the University of Western Australia in 1962. The conference series has traditionally covered the broad field of fluid mechanics in all engineering and scientific disciplines. It provides a forum for presentation of papers in all aspects of fundamental and applied fluid mechanics, including:

Aerodynamics	Hydrodynamics	Industrial flows
Combustion	Aero-acoustics	Wind engineering
Oceanography	Atmospheric research	Computational fluid mechanics
Experimental techniques	Multiphase flows	Non-Newtonian flows
Jets and wakes	Boundary layers	Gas dynamics
Hydraulics	Pipe flows	Ground water flows
Hypersonic flight	Air breathing propulsion

The 16th conference will take place over five days, starting with registration on Monday, 3rd December 2007 at 8:00am and ending on Friday 7th at 4:00pm. The venue is the Crown Plaza on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

The selection of presentations at the conference will be made by 16AFMC Scientific Committee based on the process of peer review of each full paper received by the strict deadline of 10 September 2007. A volume of abstracts will be available at the Conference.

The full version of the proceedings will also be available at the conference, either as a bound volume or as a CD-ROM. Some conference papers will be chosen for inclusion in a special issue of a leading journal, for which details will appear subsequently, subject to the agreement of the authors.

Important dates

May 21, 2007: Receipt of 100-200 word abstract via the website.
June 22, 2007: Notification of acceptance of abstract and invitation to submit full paper.
September 10, 2007: Receipt of full paper for peer review.
October 17, 2007: Notification of acceptance of paper and provision of reviewer’s comments to be incorporated into the final version.
October 31, 2007: Receipt of final version of paper with registration.
December 3, 2007: First day of conference at Crowne Plaza, Gold Coast.
